We Tonni people especially love album descriptions on bandcamp. The longer they are, the more we like them; even more than the music itself.

So we want ours to be long too.

After the legendary ‘Live June’ of 2018 we were on the verge of embarking for Portugal with the wishful thinking of recording our first ‘full length’. But, at the end of the day, the ‘project’, you wouldn’t believe it, fell through. We are extremely busy people, after all. So, between one commitment and another, in six (6) years, we managed to put together these two (2) interpretations of old folk songs that are very dear to us. The effort was not indifferent but, as the old saying goes, ‘gut Ding will Weile haben’. We like these two little songs, we like them a lot.

The vocals were recorded by Alberto at ‘’L’Albero’’, a beach resort we own at Lake Berciano. There, inspired by the warm fumes of the lake waters, the chant soared without delay to new and shining skies, scraping off some crust and moss of Time from these ancient musical gems. Alberto is also the author of the suggestive shot that serves as the cover of this record.

The music — namely the field recordings, voice editing, arrangement and stuff — was made by Marco in his fort in the Swiss Alps, pampered by the gentle whispering of the high peaks spirits.

The accordion on ‘’Mountain Dew’’ was recorded by Gianlorenzo — of Lac Observation fame — at an unidentified location deep in the heart of this beautiful Earth. His contribution was crucial to our pensive adaptation of the ode to poitín. And we Tonni can only thank him, so much.

When we think about it all, despite the splendor of original songs like ‘’Whiffy Cliff,’’ ‘’Resaca’’ or ‘’Carrita de Mare’’ — not to mention the now classic ‘’Anna’’ — which not even the ramshackle live recording has managed to wreck, we Tonni see our Future in the swampy and sunny fields of old traditional songs reinterpretation. An ancient heart beats in us, and a practical urgency, which original composition can only debase, compels us in this direction.

So, we were saying, the Future, that big nasty word. Well, our vague intention for the Future is to finally record an album. But, let’s see: to make an album of — say — ten tracks, considering that it took us six to make two, if we find the time, it will take no less than 30 years! Wow. All this, come to think of it, brings more tears than laughter. but in any case, you just have to wait. Life is long.
